10 Days of Trekking by the Sacred Lakes of the Langtang Range
The Gosainkunda region of the Langtang Range has been sacred for thousands of years. Dotted with 108 glacial lakes, these deep blue lakes reflect the surrounding mountains in a way rarely seen anywhere else in Nepal.
This ten day tour takes you through the major areas of the Langtang Range. From here, several magnificent snowcapped peaks are visible, including Ganesh Himal (elev. 7405 m), Langtang (7,245 m) and Dorje Lhakpa (6,990 m). The trek through the region takes you from sub-tropical to alpine environment.
There is also a myriad of culture and traditions here, as you pass through villages that are home to Tamangs, Sherpas, Chetri and Brahmins. Each ethnic group maintains its own villages, language and cultures that welcome visitors with friendly smiles.
Of special interest is that this is one of the places in Nepal where you can see the endangered red panda. These beautiful, but shy animals inhabit Langtang National Park. They are beautiful animals to behold, about the size of a large raccoon with red bands over the eyes. They are nocturnal creatures and rather shy, but do have a natural curiosity about them.
The Langtang Valley is not especially large, and can be easily done in 10 days. Why not write or talk to your representative at PANDA TREKS & EXPEDITIONS about booking this fantastic trip into the very heart of the Langtang Mountain range.
