Langtang Valley Trek

Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just South of Tibetan border. It is sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the North and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the South. A trek to the Langtang valley offers an opportunity to explore villages, to climb small peaks, and to visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation.

Itinerary in Details

 

Day 01 :

Kathmandu to Dhunche (1950m.)
Drive about six hours by local bus on a paved highway that twists and climbs over ridges to the trishuli valley. The road finally reaches Dhunche, after 3 hours drive from Betrawoti.

Day 02 :

Dhunche to Syabru Village (2087m.)
Come down to Syabru River and after crossing it trek up hill about two hours for lunch, magnificent view of Mt. Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt. Kerung of Tibet can be seen. Trek further for two hours through pine and rhododendron forest and reach to Syabru Village for overnight stay. Walking distance is six hours.

Day 03 :

Syabru Village to Lama Hotel (2280m.)
Trekking downwards about two hours through a forest and again upward about one hour to reach Bombu village (1850m.) for lunch. Gradually ascend through Bamboo jungle to reach to Lama Hotel and rest overnight (five hours walk).

Day 04 :

Lama Hotel to Langtang
Trek forward through rhododendron and pine forested area for about three hours and reach Ghora Tabela for lunch three hours trek forward the trail reaches at Langtang village. Tamangs and Tibetans, whose religion is Buddhism, inhabit this village. Rest and overnight stay at Langtang.

Day 05 :

Langtang to Kyanjing Gompa (3700m.)
The trek furthers about four hours and reaches to Kyanjing Gompa, after lunch have a rest overnight. This place offers beautiful view of MT. Ganchempo and Langtang Himal (3 to 4 hours walking)

Day 06 :

Kyanjing Gompa to Yala and back to Kyanjing Gompa
For three hours trek upward to reach Yala and take lunch. Then rest or proceed for a small walk to take a view of Langsisa Himal, Bhairab Takura, Dorje Lakpa Mountains, Yala and Lirung glaciers then back to Kyanjing Gompa.

Day 07 :

Kyanjing Gompa to Lama Hotel
Trek back by same route.

Day 08 :

Lama Hotel to Syabru Village
Trek back by same route.

Day 09 :

Syabru Village to Kathmandu
Trek back by same route.
